SAFEBOARD^® Edge Caps

SAFEBOARD^® Edge Caps are aluminum U-channels specifically designed for use with SAFEBOARD^® OSP (Overhang Support Panel) and OSP-X (Overhang Support Panel – Extra Strength). If OSP or OSP-X edges are exposed when installed – such as under a 3cm countertop supported by OSP or OSP-X with no edge detail – Edge Caps will cover and protect users from seeing or touching the sharp edges of OSP. Because the honeycomb core of SAFEBOARD^® is sharp, SAFEBOARD Edge Caps must be installed to protect from cuts.

Edge Caps installed on SAFEBOARD^® OSP panels also increase the overall overhang strength of the panel. Edge Caps are made of a strong aluminum alloy. When installed on your OSP around all the edges, Edge Caps add an extra layer of strength and rigidity, allowing for extra inches of safe overhang support.

SAFEBOARD^® has additionally developed a product line of customized Edge Caps for a wide variety of project applications. These new custom Edge Caps allow users to connect and mount panels in an extremely streamlined fashion - attach the appropriate Edge Caps and continue with your project.

This allows for custom projects with just OSP, Edge Caps, and SAFEBOND, such as:

• Waterfall Countertops
• Tables
• Chairs
• Displays
• Anything you can think of!

Installing SAFEBOARD^® Edge Caps

Edge Caps must be bonded to OSP and OSP-X edges using SAFEBOND Hybrid Adhesive. For proper bonding, the following steps must be taken:

• Prepare SAFEBOND Hybrid Adhesive in a caulking gun.
• Apply small bead SAFEBOND Hybrid Adhesive in Edge Cap channel.
• Use SAFEBOARD^® Adhesive Spreader to scrape out and leave the correct amount of SAFEBOND in the channel.
• Apply Edge Cap to OSP or OSP-X Edge.
